CANCER TOUCH THERAPY

OPENING SPA DOORS TO THOSE

GOING THROUGH CANCER

Marc Innes and Laura Kelly of Made For Life Organics with the spa team at Seaham Hall, County Durham

An important part of our work (in support of) the Made For Life Foundation is our fully accredited 3 day Cancer Touch Therapy training course. This advanced course enables qualified beauty and massage therapists to gain a deeper understanding of what cancer is, the staging and grading of cancer and how the treatments for cancer can affect the need to adapt spa treatments. Full protocols are offered for both face and body along with supervised practice.

The course is accredited by the Complimentary Medical Association which means insurance can be gained so individual therapists and spas can offer these holistic therapies confidently to those who have been diagnosed with the condition.

Spas all over the UK now offer Cancer Touch Therapy, including Aqua Sana spas at Center Parcs.

Amanda Winwood (formerly Barlow), MD of Made For Life Organics and Founder of the Made for Life Foundation says: “It is shocking that many spas have turned people away whilst they are going through cancer. We believe that all spas should be accessible and through our work with the Made for Life Foundation (registered charity 1138846) we have for 15 years, consistently provided this using appropriate protocols combined with our 100% organic skincare and wellbeing range of products. This CMA accredited Cancer Touch Therapy training course enables spas, managers and therapists to confidently open their doors to anyone going through cancer and provide much needed support.

Made for Life Organics funded the development of this course. However, all profits from the course go directly into the Made for Life Foundation (registered charity 1138846) to continue to support the complementary support services we offer though the charity.”

The course was developed, taking advice from trained oncology massage teachers, advisors within the oncology team at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust and also Macmillan. Marc Innes, MISRM, MCMA and Founder of the School of Natural Therapies is the course lead trainer and gained accreditation for this course from the Complementary Medical Association (CMA).

“Having worked within the NHS for 22 years, I have combined this experience with my knowledge of anatomy, physiology and complementary therapies to draw on the psychological benefits of touch therapy — it has been an absolute pleasure to develop and write this training course.”
