Hello Made For Life Organics fans, I'm Corinne Evans, Made for Life Surf Ambassador and I am here to share my summer skincare tips. As a surfer and model I spend a lot of time in the surf and sun, so I know how important it is to love your skin and treat it well.

For a few years now I have been trying to make a conscious effort to use natural and organic skincare products. Products that won't harm my skin or the environment, which ultimately lead me to team up with Made For Life Organics.

Here are some of the key tips I have for keeping your skin healthy in the summer months.

Corinne Evans summer skincare tips

Skincare has always been important to me, I spend a lot of my time out in the elements and more time in front of the camera, meaning I have to take extra care when looking after my skin - especially during the summer months. Here are my 6 steps to summer skincare.

6 Steps to Summer Skincare

Step 1: Hydrate

I am talking about not only drinking plenty of fresh water but I am also talking about hydrating your skin on the outside. It’s so important to moisturise, especially during the summer months. Because the weather is warmer, we tend to lose more water and you can often see signs of dehydration on the skin. A good way to test if you are drinking enough and moisturising enough, is to gently pinch your skin on your hand and see  how quickly it springs back. The slower that happens, the more dehydrated you are.

Oils and balms are better than water-based moisturisers because they are absorbed into the skin more quickly and efficiently. After a long day on the beach or in the surf I like to use Tone & Firm Oil on my body before going to bed.

Step 2: Exfoliate

It’s important to scrub away any dirt and dead skin both on your face and your body. In the summer, everyone tends to be putting SPFs on their skin and this can result in a build up of products on your skin. Also our skin tends to dry out with combination of sun and sea or swimming. Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells allowing the oils and balms that you are using to hydrate your skin to be absorbed effectively.  I am a big fan of body scrubs and love the Embrace The Day Body Scrub. During the summer I wear A LOT of high strength SPF, so it’s good to give my skin a gentle scrub once to twice a week to ensure my pores don’t get clogged up.

Step 3: Apply Face Oils

I find after a surf my skin is extremely dry, especially under my eyes. After surfing I love to apply the Daily Rejuvenating Face Oil. The Face Oil can be used as a lightweight moisturiser, or underneath a moisturiser for a more intense hydration. The base oil is jojoba oil because that is a very close match to the natural sebum produced by our skin, so it keeps the skin at a perfect PH balance. The Rose and Vanilla gently stimulate my skin for a healthy glow.

Step 4: Be regimented

It’s very easy to let your skincare regime slip, with long summer nights and early sunrise starts it’s easily done. However it’s something try and prevent happening. Having a good skincare routine will make all the difference. Cleanse, tone and moisturise every day and you will see results! There are no day and night products as such, as the moisturising balms are effective as long as you use them daily.

Step 5: Protect your skin

We all know the importance of SPF, so make sure you apply it. Wherever possible opt for a natural and organic suncream. The carrot oil in the Daily Replenish & Protect Moisturising Balm for example, means that product has a natural SPF of about factor 7, although it cannot be officially designated as an SPF product because it is organic.

Step 6: Love the skin you’re in!

For me it’s all about nurturing my skin and my body and taking care of it. It’s about being mindful, having a routine that’s all about being kind to yourself and protecting the environment. Have a fantastic summer!
