Be kind to the beautiful planet you’re exploring and enjoying this summer, whether you’re relaxing at home or away.

Here are some tips for a break that nurtures Mother Nature while you take a well earned rest.

DISCOVER THE ART OF ECO FRIENDLY PACKING

Wherever and however you are travelling, it is quite simply more energy efficient to travel light, with the added benefit that it will make your journey easier. Simple tips for doing this include:

Use a smaller bag -- we tend to fill the space we have.

Pick a simple two tone colour palette for your clothing and stick to that.

Pack thin layer clothes, wear anything bulky as you travel.

TAKE ORGANIC TOILETRIES

Packing a small quantity of cleanser, toner and moisturiser that is organic and free from microbeads means you won’t pollute the beautiful ocean near your chosen destination. Our 10ml travel samples are on a 3 for 2 for the whole summer. They’re the perfect size to pack in your hand luggage if you are flying, and once you’ve used them up, the tins and pretty glass bottles can be refilled from your larger product bottles for when you travel next time. RESPECT LOCAL PLANT AND ANIMAL LIFE

When you’re out and about, you can do simple things to look after the local flora and fauna. Stay on trails and public footpaths; don’t remove plants or feed animals; and carry a litter bag when you’re out and about.

CONSERVE WATER

Take showers rather than baths; use a refillable water container, sterilizing water or buying a large container of drinking water rather than buying little bottles of water. Reuse your hotel towels and bed linen.

EAT AND SHOP LOCAL

Imports usually mean fossil fuels and can have a negative financial effect, particularly on poorer and island nations. You can support the local economy by buying your food from the local market and choosing gifts that are locally made crafts, whilst knowing that your shopping is also limiting the environmental impact of importation.

CHOOSE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY TRANSPORT

Rather than hiring a car, choose other ways to get around like taxis, trains or buses. In many places you can also rent bikes. And don't forget your feet! You can use our Soothe & Smooth Leg & Foot Balm to pamper your feet if you've been out walking.

ENJOY ECO-FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES

Try to think of the impact of the things you do for fun. For example, kayaking or Stand Up Paddleboarding is more eco-friendly to the marine environment and has a lower carbon footprint than any activities involving boats with motors. If you’re playing golf, try to play somewhere that recycles water because golf courses can use a tremendous amount of water keeping their lawns green. If you’re scuba diving or snorkelling, check out the company you’re going with and ask them if they work with eco-friendly organisations like Greenfins or Project Aware.
